Annual Selection 2026

“They may kill all the swallows, but they will never prevent the return of spring,” says an Afghan proverb.

And with spring comes the beginning of the 2026 Annual Selection!

The writers selected, after a difficult choice given the overall outstanding quality, will soon arrive at Le Groupe Ouest to develop their feature film projects.

And as they emerge from a harsh winter, without denying its pain and scars, these storytellers, with their widely diverse backgrounds, will take on human struggles in order to reveal their most vivid and subtle colors. From the gentrified beaches of Morocco to the neocolonial frictions of Senegal, from the political dilemmas of rural France to the dizzying grip of patriarchy within the Roma community, the territories they will portray are those of our troubles, our fears, our mistakes, and our distress. But also those of our resistance, our resilience, our liberation, and our awakenings.

These eight projects, with their strong and diverse cinematic voices—incandescent intimate tragedy, cruel family saga, deadpan class struggle, geopolitical fairy tale, or an offbeat detective story in slippers—are the diffracted shards of the mirror reflecting who we are today.
