Valéry Carnoy

Valéry Carnoy is a Belgian filmmaker trained at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in Brussels, following an initial degree in social and intercultural psychology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

In 2019, he completed his graduation film My Planet, which was selected in over 80 international festivals (Regard, Brest, Camerimage, Flickerfest, Leeds, Leuven, Tokyo…). The film notably won the Best Film Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

In 2021, he directed Titan, which earned him the National Grand Prize at the Brussels Short Film Festival, along with around thirty other awards (Rhode Island, Busan Short, Oberhausen, Tirana…). The film was also shortlisted for the César Awards and selected in several prestigious international festivals (Clermont-Ferrand, Molodist, Interfilm Berlin, Message to Man, Regard, Odense, Palm Springs, São Paulo…).

In 2024, he directed his first feature film, The Dance of the Foxes. The film was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Europa Cinemas Award for Best European Film as well as the SACD Award for Best French Film. The film has been sold in around twenty countries and selected in numerous prestigious international festivals (Busan, Hamburg, Valladolid, Warsaw, São Paulo, Tallinn, Cinémania, Golden Horse, Angoulême, Göteborg…).
