Jean-Baptiste Durand
A graduate of the Montpellier School of Fine Arts, from which he graduated with highest honors, Jean-Baptiste Durand initially focused on painting and drawing before moving into narrative filmmaking.
After completing his studies, he worked as a film technician, then directed several music videos and documentaries, as well as a number of short films that were selected and awarded at festivals.
Praised by both audiences and critics, his debut feature, Chien de la casse, received 7 César nominations and won 2 awards (Best First Film and Most Promising Actor for Raphaël Quenard). It also earned him the inaugural Pierre Chevalier Prize, awarded in Cannes in 2023.
As an actor, Jean-Baptiste Durand appeared in Miséricorde, the latest feature by Alain Guiraudie. This year, he is also starring in two other feature films: La danse des renards and Que ma volonté soit faite, both selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in 2025. He is currently preparing his next feature film, L’homme qui avait peur des femmes.
