Synopsis
“Soudain” (Suddenly) is set in a remote mountain hamlet perched high above the world. One stormy night, the villagers witness the arrival of Aimée, their first-ever schoolteacher : young, secular, and republican. She’s come to spend the winter teaching a small group of children. Despite the cold mistrust, Aimée slowly becomes part of the community, determined to bring light to their obscure beliefs. But the rituals and legends haunt her nights… As snow piles up and the mountain grows more isolated, Attracted by their sensuality Aimée draws closer to two villagers—Enoch and Pépin. Then the village elder, old Jupiter, dies. With the ground too frozen to dig a grave, his coffin is strapped to the school roof. While the atmosphere is in mourning, Aimée’s growing desire for the young men of the village suddenly engulf her…
