Anas Khalaf

Inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s quote« Photography is the truth and cinéma, is 24 times the truth per second», Anas Khalaf has been taking photographs since his adolescence, and making films since he discovered what the language of Cinéma is.

 

He is a Syrian-French filmmaker who currentlylives in Doha, Qatar, having left Damascus, Syria with his family in 2012 as a result of the Syrian conflict.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Normandy Business School in France.

 

He and his wife Rana Kazkaz, co-founded the production company Synéastes Films in 2010.

Together they have made 4 short films, last of which was the multi-awarded Mare Nostrum (Sundance), 1 feature film, The Translator (TIFF), and 2 kids (Zayd and Zayn).

 

Anas is currently developping 2 fiction feature films as writer/director, The Photographer and Love-45, and a Tv Series, The Syrian Doctor.

 

Anas also has an acting career, having played in feature films (Degradé, The Translator, Only the Rebels, Palestine 36) as well as in Tv Series (The bureau, Crisis Cell, The Seal Team, The Printing Press).
