The Short-Format Series Workshop
A first for Le Groupe Ouest!
Published
In response to the rise of short-form series and the new opportunities they offer, Le Groupe Ouest launched the first edition of its workshop this year, dedicated to series with episodes under 20 minutes length, intended for the web and social media.
Over five days, six creators — Cécile Tisseyre, Awa Traore, Lucie Tremolières, Laura Saulnier, Alice Feldhandler and Romane Valin — explored the specific challenges of writing for short-form series, supported by two scriptwriters and consultants, Louise Silverio and Christophe Lemoine.
How can we rethink the imaginative possibilities and potential of the series format when we have to tell stories differently, in under 20 minutes? How can we adapt dramatic and emotional pacing to suit audience habits? And above all, how can we turn the constraints inherent to the short-form format into a genuine driver of creativity?
During this first session, the participants experimented with an approach based on brainstorming, collective inspiration and immersion, drawing in particular on the spatialisation of ideas, sensory mapping and various tools for visual and interactive representation.
The aim: to lay solid foundations for their projects and to develop creative forms suited to these new formats, before continuing their development with future partners, producers, co-writers and other collaborators.
This first session marks the start of a new experimental projects for Le Groupe Ouest, dedicated to supporting a new generation of creators and their imaginations.
See you at the second session in a few weeks’ time!
