Violette Gitton

Violette Gitton

Violette Gitton grew up in Rennes and made her first films through Breton organizations while she was still in high school. In 2023, she directed the short fiction film “Ce qui appartient à César,” which won numerous awards around the world before being nominated for the 2025 César Awards. She then directed “Malheur niveau 2,” an audio documentary produced by Arte Radio, in which she captures the voices of patients at a Parisian psychiatric hospital with transparency and empathy. Winner of the Prix Europa and Italia 2025 awards, this project confirms her interest in the voices and life stories of marginalized people. In addition to directing, Violette also works as a child coach: she ensures the physical and emotional safety of minor actors on set and advises the production team on how to direct them.
