Jean-Baptiste Durand
A former student at the Montpellier School of Fine Arts, Jean-Baptiste Durand obtained his DNSEP with honors in 2010. He was initially interested in painting and drawing, then discovered video during his time at art school. Self-taught, he learned about cinema by working as a technician and actor on film sets. In 2014, he directed “Il venait de Roumanie” (He Came from Romania), his first short fiction film, followed by “Le Bal” (The Ball) in 2018 and “Vrai gars” (Real Guy) in 2021.
He joined Groupe Ouest to develop “Chien de la casse”, his first feature film.

Dog and Mirales, childhood friends, live in a small village in the south of France and spend most of their days hanging out. To kill time, Mirales has gotten into the habit of teasing Dog, more than is reasonable. But that fall, Dog meets Elsa, with whom he falls in love. As jealousy gradually eats away at Mirales, the distance that grows between them allows them to mature and find their place in the world.
