Meritxell Colell Aparicio

Meritxell Colell Aparicio studied Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University and received a scholarship to study at the Universidad del Cine (Buenos Aires).

Her first feature film, CON EL VIENTO (2018), was premiered at Berlinale after being selected for L’Atelier de la Cinéfondation at Cannes Film Festival. It received the Award for Best Film in the Malaga Film Festival. TRANSOCEÁNICAS (2020) was premiered at Nara Festival (Japan) and received a special mention from the jury at Gijón Film Festival. It’s codirected by Lucía Vassallo. DUO (2022), received the Silver Biznaga Award for Best Director in the Malaga Film Festival and the Cannes Award winner at the Co-Production Forum of the 66th San Sebastian Film Festival. LA CIUTAT A LA VORA (2022) premiered at DocumentaMadrid in homage to Jonas Mekas.

In 2022 she is selected to participate at Berlinale Talents and she’s part of IKUSMIRA BERRIAK program (San Sebastian Film Fest) with a new project. As an editor, she worked on 11 feature films screened at international festivals like Mar del Plata or IDFA.

Since 2007, she is part of the team of ‘Cine en curso‘, an educational film project organised by the A Bao A Qu association. She is Associate Professor for the Audiovisual Communication from UPF. She also teaches workshops and seminars at ESCAC, EICTV, ECIB.
