Setareh Pirkhedri
After completing her studies in film screenwriting at Tehran University of Art, Setareh Pirkhedri wrote her first feature film screenplay, ‘Reconciliation’, in 2007. The screenplay won an award at the Fajr Screenplay Writing Festival in Iran, which enabled her to enter the professional world straight away. She then wrote screenplays for feature films and series that were screened or broadcast.
She continued her studies with a master’s degree in dramatic literature at the same film school while working as a development executive for various production companies. She divided her time between her personal writing projects (five of which won national screenplay awards) and working as a consultant or co-screenwriter on scripts for independent filmmakers such as Mehrdad Oskouei and Bahman Ghobadi.
After ten years of experience in her home country, she decided to move to France in 2017. She obtained a second master’s degree in film from the Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris 3. Since then, she has been working as a screenwriter and consultant for French production companies and independent Iranian filmmakers.
