Jamal Belmahi

Jamal Belmahi was born in Morocco to a Moroccan father and an Austrian mother.

A screenwriter for over ten years, he has written several television formats for Moroccan channels and two feature films: Horses of God (dir. Nabil Ayouch, Un Certain Regard, 2012) and Adieu l’Afrique (dir. Pierre-Alain Meier, Visions du Réel Nyon, 2017). He is currently developing several projects, including the debut feature films of Karim Bensalah and Katia Jarjoura.

He works as a consultant on numerous series and feature films across the Maghreb and the Middle East and regularly teaches at the Meditalents writing workshop.

He is also a reader for the Aide au Cinéma du Monde and one of the founding members of SCA (Scénaristes de Cinéma Associés).
