European Writers Club

A European Laboratory for Series Creation

In 2022/2023, responding to an initiative by the European Commission, Le Groupe Ouest partnered with Vision Denmark to launch the European Writers Club (EWC) — a new hub dedicated to series creation across Europe.

The goal: to foster dynamic collaborations between creators, screenwriters, producers, and broadcasters from all over Europe.

Bringing together 15 years of experience in writing room methodologies, Le Groupe Ouest contributes unique tools inspired by cognitive science and rooted in real-world practices. These methods, developed through years of workshops and partnerships with top European talents, have led to a distinctive approach to prewriting — helping teams clarify their vision before scriptwriting even begins.

Since its creation, EWC has accelerated the development of numerous original series now supported by major European producers and broadcasters.

In 2025, Season 3 of EWC reached a new milestone.

In April, Bridging Generations / Connecting Audiences, the first thematic camp of the season, was held at Le Groupe Ouest.

It welcomed eight talented teams of writers, each developing a project daring to cross both borders and generations.

The workshop focused on slowing down before the rush of writing, using creative and unconventional practices to challenge routine processes and open new narrative paths — identifying story options that are unexpected, rich, and emotionally powerful.
