The Man Who Paints Water Drops

Oan Kim & Brigitte Bouillot took part in 2015 in Groupe Ouest Développement’s Dramaturgy & Documentary workshop, in partnership with Ty Films (Mellionnec, Brittany), for the writing of “L’Homme qui peint des gouttes d’eau”. In 2016, they were awarded the Brouillon d’un rêve prize for this project.
In 2021, their extraordinary documentary film went on a world tour of festivals, stopping off in Toronto, Krakow, Barcelona and Seoul, and in 2023 they won the “Prix audiovisuel de la Scam”.

Synopsis

An elderly, discreet and renown Korean artiste, observed through the eyes of his French-Korean son trying to understand his father’s life-long obsession : painting water droplets. What seems at first a symbol of serene Eastern wisdom slowly unveils a deeper truth — a haunting legacy, rooted in the history of his homeland.
