Valérie Fageol

Having working as an assistant director between 1998 and 2001, Valérie Fageol enrolled at the European Conservatory of Audiovisual Writing. Since then, she has devoted herself to writing personal projects (series and animated feature films), developing her consulting business and carrying out introductory screenwriting workshops in schools.

The animated film project ‘Les Moutongonautes’ (previously ‘Mout’’) was developed as part of the Groupe Ouest Annual Selection in 2011. It was awarded the Beaumarchais-SACD 2017 writer’s grant.

This is the story of a lamb who, in trying to save his friend from death, discovers his own callling. Because he has none of the qualities of a normal sheep, Mout’ Le Mouton – a young, small, red-haired, puny lamb with matted wool – is assigned to graze the motorway edges alongside Hector, an eccentric and wildly unpredictable old ram. To save his friend from a tragic end, Mout’ improvises their escape to La Cité Fleurie, a neighbouring suburb they can see on the other side of the motorway. But as Hector’s senility worsens, what should have been a simple break for freedom turns into a true odyssey for Mout’…
