
Simon Dara
Simon Dara is a Belgian artist born in 1985 in London. After a literary baccalaureate and studying applied arts in Paris, he continued his artistic education at Falmouth University College in Cornwall, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. He completed his academic journey at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 2010 with a Master’s in Visual Communication. Today, he works as a freelance graphic designer and art director for various cultural institutions. In 2015, he co-directed his first short film The Ordinary with his brother Julien. In 2020, they released their second short film The Color of Kings.
Julien and Simon Dara were supported by Le Groupe Ouest for the development of their feature film My Road.
Ce qui est très joli dans le processus de travail, c'est que en se mettant un tout petit peu à la place du spectateur, en dézoomant par rapport à une expérience personnelle, on peut travailler sur des choses passionnantes au niveau de l'arène, du dispositif, des personnages... Et vraiment, s'affranchir de toute une expérience personnelle, pour en produire une pure expérience cinématographique.
