Simão Cayatte
Simão Cayatte is a Portuguese-Finnish filmmaker and actor. He studied theatre at Goldsmiths University in London and graduated in film from Columbia University in New York as a Gulbenkian scholar. His graduation film, A Viagem, was presented in 2011 at the Cinéfondation competition at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected for several festivals around the world. His short film Menina won the Portuguese Academy’s Sophia Award for Best Short Film in 2017. His feature film script Vadio received national funding from the ICA in 2016 for a first feature film, in collaboration with Ukbar Filmes.

When André (13 years old) is abandoned by his father, he befriends Sandra, a young mother in difficulty who is hiding in the neighbouring flat. Together, they embark on a journey through the desolate and harsh landscapes of the Alentejo, in search of their loved ones .
