Avanos

LIM | Less is More 2018

AVANOS tells the story of Tasos, a prisoner granted temporary leave to attend his mother’s memorial service. He returns to his hometown near the Greek-Turkish border after 17 years of absence. There, he discovers that the son of his ex-girlfriend Kiki might be his own. As he searches for the truth, he realizes that his uncle Pater—a local smuggler and former accomplice—has descended into madness and turned the village into a living nightmare, dragging Kiki’s son Nikos into his destructive spiral. As events unfold, Tasos comes to suspect that Nikos may actually be Pater’s son. In a final attempt at redemption, he decides to stay and agrees to one “last” job to help Kiki flee the village and save Nikos from a dark fate. But on the night of the heist, things go horribly wrong. Nikos is killed right before Tasos’s eyes. He has no choice left. Once again, he pulls the trigger—this time on the man who once served as his father figure, the very man he went to prison for: Pater.
