Sélection Annuelle 2019

Pascal is a soldier with an exemplary career. After 20 years in the Marine Commandos, he is given responsibility for a group of young Qataris at the Naval Academy in Brest. One of them, Ali, who hadn’t choosen to be there, is a challenge. His father, a high-ranking Qatari dignitary, is forcing him to study in France, while his mother chooses his future wife. While Ali’s destiny seems set in stone, Pascal’s life is turned upside-down when his daughter Valentine, whom he has hardly seen grow up, arrives. Valentine is doing a work-study programme to earn her hospitality certificate. She meets Ali in his restaurant. Ali is fascinated by this young girl rebelling against her parents. Valentine and Ali grow closer. And Pascal is now caught between his military duty and his family.
