Spring Cleaning

LIM | Less is More 2021

In the peak of a scorching summer, a prodigal daughter returns to her hometown for the first time in years. Suzana, a prison inmate in Sweden, is granted temporary leave following her mother’s suicide. Strange occurrences begin to unfold around the family house and the backyard chicken coop—signs that Vera, her mother, may have returned from the afterlife to teach her daughter a few final lessons. Amid the oppressive heat and long-buried grief, it could all be an illusion. But for better or worse, Suzana is not alone in this unsettling reality. Also confined within the same walls is Lile, a police officer assigned as her escort, and the house proves too small for the three of them. Suffocated by the weight of prejudice and judgment, the already shrinking mining town closes in further, and as Suzana takes matters into her own hands, their lives begin to spiral into chaos and mystery.
