
Luigi Campi
Luigi Campi and Konstantinos Antonopoulos began collaborating during their studies at Columbia University. Luigi is a Fulbright scholar, a graduate of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, and an alumnus of TorinoFilmLab, Berlinale Talents, and Oxbelly. His first feature film, My First Kiss and the People Involved, premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and went on to win multiple awards in the United States. His next film has recently been optioned, and a thriller he co-wrote is set to be filmed in Vietnam this June.

The Aegean Sea, 703 AD. Two shipwrecked convicts, locked in wooden stocks, wash ashore on a deserted island. The first, Zaharias, is a naive, cross-eyed beekeeper, falsely accused of heresy by a neighbour who coveted his wife. The second, Justinian II, is a former Byzantine emperor, dethroned, humiliated, and mutilated—his nose cut off. A humble man and a fallen god, both betrayed and lost, await death. But their meeting rekindles a spark of hope : Zaharias dreams of reclaiming his wife, while Justinian envisions retaking his throne. Together, they attempt to reach the mainland, but the island seems to test them at every turn. To prove they deserve a second chance, they become both rivals and mentors, each confronting his own flaws…
