
Lila Pinell
After studying philosophy and obtaining a master’s in filmmaking at Lussas, Lila Pinell directed documentaries with Chloé Mahieu. Their films have been showcased at FID Marseille, RIDM, CPH:DOX, FIFIB, and more. They have worked with Arte, France 2, and France 3, and received a Scam award in 2013. In 2017, they co-directed their first fiction feature, Kiss and Cry, which premiered at the ACID section in Cannes, won the Best Screenplay Award at the Torino Film Festival, and received the Grand Prize at the Monterrey Film Festival. In 2021, Lila directed a medium-length fiction film, Le Roi David, which won the Jean Vigo Prize, the Grand Prize, and the Student Prize at Clermont-Ferrand.
She is currently working on the screenplay for Shana, a continuation of the themes explored in Le Roi David.

Shana, in her early thirties, navigates between food jobs, drug deals and an impossible love affair with a toxic thug, Moïse. To make matters worse, her Moroccan Jewish grandmother has just passed away, leaving her with only a family ring with mysterious powers. And so begins a series of misadventures for the young heroine, at the end of which she may finally be able to reconcile with herself.
