Kristy Baboul

After studying film and philosophy, Kristy Baboul entered the cinematography department at La Fémis, graduating with honors in 2016. During his studies, he directed several short films, including his graduation film Dans la nuit, which portrays a young boy torn between romantic aspirations and the harsh violence of his reality. Since graduating, Kristy Baboul has worked on various film projects as a director of photography. He also works as a camera operator at the Comédie-Française, notably on Ivo Van Hove’s production of The Damned. He came to Le Groupe Ouest to develop his first feature film Evil Eye, co-written with Anna Cazenave Cambet.

Samir, a 15-year-old boy, is discharged from the hospital after losing an eye due to police brutality. While some people around him urge him to take justice into his own hands, Samir is consumed by thoughts of Judith, a girl who deeply unsettles him. But the violence surrounding him is relentless—and it soon catches up with him.
