The incredible village of Dullwich on sea

Cross Channel Film Lab 2014

Co-written with Joe Barton and Jamie Stone. Produced by Sophie Vickers

In a quiet English fishing village, a powerful corporation threatens to turn the area into a theme park. The residents decide to take matters into their own hands—without informing 13-year-old Michael, who is spending the summer in Dullwich-on-Sea with his grandfather, Burt. But Michael soon discovers that his peaceful holiday will be anything but ordinary : Burt is the mastermind behind a bold plan to detach the village from the mainland and set sail into the open sea. However, neither Burt nor the villagers could have anticipated the challenges ahead: encounters with pirates, freezing Arctic-like temperatures, internal tensions among the residents, and the constant threat of Arthur, the corporate boss’s son, who is determined to sabotage their mission. As they journey toward Florida, Michael and the villagers will learn valuable lessons about family and friendship, the strength of will in the face of adversity, and ultimately realize that home is where the heart is.
