Jean-Charles Paugam
After spending his youth in Brest, Jean-Charles Paugam enrolled at Sciences Po Paris, graduating in 2005. He continued his studies at the Freie Universität in Berlin before taking the plunge and devoting himself to his passion: screenwriting.
He wrote several short films and moved on to directing with Noir, c’est noir (Triade Films, 2008), Ogre (Offshore, 2012) and Cadence (Triade Films, 2015). At the same time, he developed projects for television and joined the TV Series department at La Fémis in 2013.
In 2015, he took part in the Groupe Ouest Annual Selection for the writing of his feature film: La Bonne chaleur de l’animal. This project was also part of LA SÉLECTION in 2017, an event co-created by Groupe Ouest and the Gan Foundation for Cinema.
He worked as a screenwriter on Stalk (2020 – seasons 1 and 2). His first feature film, La Bataille du rail (The Battle of the Rails), was released in cinemas in July 2021.

FRANCK (20) is a punk-with-a-dog… without the dog. A good-for-nothing. An anarchist. A young man hiding some mysterious shortcoming beneath his rebellious exterior.
One night, he breaks into an isolated house not far from a small town in Brittany. In the bedroom, he discovers the owner of the house. MADELEINE (75) suffers from Parkinson’s disease: she can barely communicate or move. Her brain, her being, her soul are imprisoned in this flesh, these muscles and bones which refuse to obey her.
Franck takes advantage of the fact that the sick woman receives only brief visits from her nurse, her home help and her sister and settles in the attic. Between the young outsider and the old lady, a bond gradually develops, beyond words and preconceived ideas…
