In Brittany, at the very end of the 18th century, two young women—one a slave in a French colony, the other sent straight from her father’s home into her husband’s arms—fight for the same thing : freedom. From their meeting will emerge a painting that will bear all their hopes and serve as a witness to their emancipation from a world that, until then, has oppressed them.
