Laurent Slama
Laurent is an autodidact filmmaker. Starting out as an editor, then moving on to cinematographer, Laurent made his first two feature films under the pseudonym Elisabeth Vogler, name borrowed from Ingmar Bergman’s film, Persona. Elisabeth Vogler is an actress who suddenly stops speaking.In 2015, he began shooting his feature film Paris est à nous set against a backdrop of real events. The film was broadcast by Netflix in 190 countries in 2019. With Années 20, he continues this reality exploration, using the camera as a thread linking lives together in an uninterrupted 90-minute sequence shot in the streets of Paris. The film was selected at Tribeca, where it received a special mention from the jury and the award for best cinematography. It was released in cinemas in April 2022. That same year, Laurent decided to use his own name to sign his next film, Les Chevreuils.

Of mixed-race, Jarod is an executive in his thirties. He has just inherited a large house in the Dordogne region of France along with his white sister, Daphne. Jarod decides to go there to speed up the sale of the house and, above all, to get it back in shape. One evening, he comes across a deer that starts talking to him. This encounter will change his life. Jarod decides to stay in the house, much to his sister’s dismay. He gives up his job and gradually becomes ‘marginalised’. But a community forms around him and his sound system, bringing life to the neighbourhood. Guided by his deer, Jarod avoids pitfalls and manages to preserve his fragile happiness despite the police, the neighbours and family. While he thought he was a nobody, he discovers himself and inspires those around him, who flock to discover the community.
