Elie Grappe

Between 2011 and 2015, Elie Grappe studied classical music at the National Conservatory of Lyon, then studied filmmaking at ECAL .
At ECAL, he directed Répétition, followed by his graduation film Suspendu. Both short films were selected for several international festivals and won awards. After graduating, he co-directed a musical documentary, Hors Scène, with Timothée Zurbuchen. He then directed the casting and coached the performers for Blaise Harrison’s film Les Particules, selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in 2019.

In July 2021, his first fiction feature Olga was selected in competition at the 60th Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the SACD Award. Since then, the film has traveled to numerous festivals—Karlovy Vary, Odessa, Brussels, Hamburg. It was released theatrically on November 17, 2021. Olga was Switzerland’s submission for the 2022 Oscar for Best International Feature Film.
