Line Langebek

Line Langebek est une scénariste d’origine danoise vivant à Londres.

Elle a étudié l’écriture de scénario à l’Université de Bournemouth, après avoir fréquenté l’European Film College. Elle a également vécu et voyagé en France, en Afrique du Sud, en Israël et en Chine.

Elle a travaillé comme scénariste pour de nombreux courts et longs-métrages au Royaume-Uni, aux États-Unis, en France, au Danemark et en Norvège. Elle a aussi été consultante freelance en scénario pour des maisons de production à Londres et à Los Angeles, ainsi que traductrice littéraire. Elle a fait des sous-titres pour la télévision.

Elle a écrit pour des magazines tels que Broadcast, Scriptwriter UK, Sight & Sound et des nouvelles pour la radio norvégienne.

Elle a travaillé sur le long-métrage I’LL COME RUNNING, le drame de 30 minutes SINK OR SWIM pour Channel 4, le documentaire DUAM DRÏTE: WE WANT LIGHT, tourné en Albanie pour la télévision française, ainsi que EVERGREEN, ANONYMOUS et FIELD STORY dans le cadre du programme Big Budget Shorts du BFI.

Elle était la scénariste principale et auteure d’une douzaine d’épisodes de la série télévisée pour enfants ROYALS NEXT DOOR (diffusée en Irlande, Finlande, Espagne, Belgique, Danemark…), dans une writers’ room 100 % féminine opérant entre la Finlande, le Royaume-Uni, l’Irlande et l’Espagne.

In 2015, she co-founded Raising Films, together with a small group of producers, writers and directors, to campaign for better working conditions in the film and TV industry for parents and carers, and to help support future generations of storytellers too. For a few years, she was also part of Library of Change, co-founded with Sholeh Johnston, inspiring change through verbal Exchanges and Tiny Books and working with the artist Emily Tracy on the Arts Council England (ACE) supported collage project, Let’s Stick Together.

Line also lectures at Regent’s University, London, tutors at Oxford University’s MSt in Creative Writing and she is an occasional developmental story editor for the crime publisher Inkubator Books. She is a member of the WGGB’s Film Committee and is part of The Dissonant Futures Collective, supported by ACE. In 2023/2024, she has been also funded by ACE to work on a novel.

Line is an alumnus of the Guiding Lights programme (mentor Frank Cottrell-Boyce), as well as the Berlinale Talent Campus, and she is currently working on several feature film commissions in the UK and Denmark. THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE, a recent feature film that she co-wrote, is currently in the edit and is due to be released later in the year/early 2025.
