L’Histoire de Louise

coécrit avec Nathalie Pochat Le Roy

La Sélection 2016

On the small island of Ecrin, men and women cultivate books and stories. Paper and words are the food of this world where books are literally eaten. But for over a century, the inhabitants have been living in fear of a terrifying monster : the Shadow. A prophecy relates that the most beautiful story of all could defeat the creature. So, day and night, the best writers put pen to paper. So far, no book has defeated the monster. Louise Foin, 10 years old, a little girl with red hair, convinced of her talent as a writer-cook, thinks she will be the one to write the perfect story and will therefore become the heroine of the people of Ecrin. And above all she will regain the attention of her father, lost in his quest for revenge. Monsieur Fouin, the mayor of Ecrin, is doing everything in his power to exterminate the abominable creature who took his wife from him a few years ago… to the point of forgetting that he is first and foremost a father. Louise overhears his new plan : “We’ve got to get into the castle and find the Shadow’s weak spot”. She goes and locks herself inside the terrifying creature’s home, determined to fulfill the prophecy.
