For Leyla Bouzid – Groupe Ouest 2016 – during Cannes Film Festival

In a parallel to the 69th Cannes Film Festival, the Tunisian director Leyla Bouzid received on 17 May 2016 the prize ‘Young talent Women in Motion‘ awarded by the Foundation Kering, in the side of two other film-makers: the Syrian Gaya Jiji and the Iranian Ida Panahandeh.

Officially launched at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival in 2015, the programme is jointly developed by Kering and the Festival de Cannes. ‘Women in Motion’ aims to support women involved in cinema, highlight their contribution and encourage greater awareness of the need for diversity in the film industry. The three directors will benefit each of a financial support for a film project.

Leyla Bouzid made the feature film A peine j’ouvre les yeux (As I Open My Eyes), released in December 2015. It received numerous prizes: Venice Days – Public & Europa Cinema Prizes, Dubaï International Film Festival Prize.

She is writing within the framework of Groupe Ouest’s Yearly Selection her second feature film: Trois histoires d’amour et de désirs (Three stories of love and desires).
