Kevin Meul’s first feature film – 2012 international workshop
The shoot of Belgian writer/director Kevin Meul’s first feature My First Highway started on April 13th in Spain. Kevin Meul came to Brignogan (Brittany) in 2012 as part of the international workshops with the TorinoFilmLab.
Whilst on holiday at a campsite in Spain, Benjamin quickly succumbs to the charms of Annabel. But she has a big secret, which is the cause of a tragedy that ties them to one another whilst separating them forever. Between secrets and frustration, misunderstanding develops between the two teenagers, and Benjamin, struggles to control the flurry of contradicting emotions overcoming him. My First Highway, which spans a single summer, is a new take on the loss of innocence that signals the start of adolescence.
Kevin Meul was first noticed for his short films The Extraordinary Life of Rocky, and Cadet, which was selected for the South by Southwest Festival. He participated in the Berlinale Talents in 2012, and with My First Highway in the Binger Filmlab and the TorinoFilmLab (Script&Pitch 2012).
My First Highway is produced by Fobic Films (Belgium) and co-produced by CTM Pictures (Netherlands). The film is supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund, Screen Flanders, Telenet Stap and The Netherlands Film Fund.
