László Nemes and Clément Cogitore rewarded in Cannes

2015 Cannes Festival Prize list
László Nemes, Grand Prix
The Hungarian director, obtained an extraordinary result with his first feature film Son of Saul – the only debut in Competition – winning the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI Prize.
“The strategy was one of extrapolation: providing the viewer with immeasurably few elements in such a way as to really stimulate their imagination. I think that’s closer to what would have been the experience in the camps, to the feeling you would have had there as a human being. Suggesting something is more powerful than showing it.” (source: Cineuropa)
László Nemes came to Groupe Ouest in 2012 to work on his second feature film within the framework of the international workshops (Script&Pitch 2012).
Clément Cogitore, Gan Foundation Prize
The French Clément Cogitore – who came at Groupe Ouest within the framework of the international workshops organised with the TorinoFilmLab (Script&Pitch 2012) – received the Gan Foundation prize at the Critics’ Week for his feature film The Wakhan Front: the prize grants support for the distribution of the film in France.
