Julien Lilti and Simon Rouby – writer and director of Adama – were coached within Groupe Ouest 2009 Yearly Selection. The film is supported by the Fondation Gan for cinema and was part of TorinoFilmLab Script&Pitch programme in 2010.
Adama, produced by Naïa Productions, will be on French screens on October 21st, and the book Adama (Actes Sud Junior) will be published on September 23rd. The book is written by Julien Lilti and illustrated by Simon Rouby.
Adama tells the odyssey of a Senegalese boy through France during the First World War:
Adama, 12 years old, lives in an isolated village of western Africa. Beyond cliffs is the World of the Breaths, a world at war. When Samba, his older brother, leaves suddenly the village, Adama decides to go in his search.
