Pablo Agüero’s Feature Film, Coven, co-written with Katell Guillou, in cinemas on Wednesday 25th August 2021!
Here’s a film just as necessary as a painkiller during a toothache, or as a compass to cross the Atlantic during a storm! Coven (Akelarre, Basque title) is released in theaters, spread the news.
Argentinian director Pablo Agüero established in France, chose to address the topic of the Inquisition in the Basque Country in the 17th Century, in a time of witch-hunt and high allergy feminine freedom. It is the most awarded feature film in Spain this year (five Goya!), a cinematographic jewel and a liberating cry during this time of return of Talibans of all orders.
Pablo, as well as his co-writer Katell Guillou, were accompanied by Le Groupe Ouest as part of its Annual Selection, with Marcel Beaulieu and Yann Apperry as script consultants. And “Coven” has been produced by the glorious team of Tita B, production society settled in Douarnenez, at the far end of Finistère (Brittany, France)!
In these uncertain times, Le Groupe Ouest strengthen more than ever its fundamental and activist orientation: to help films that are necessary to our lives, to help “these stories we are lacking of” to be written, to take shape!
